To retire, been working over 30yrs as a Rural Mail Carrier.
I remember this as some of my best memories during training. Especially marching in the different Mardi Gras parades.

I was with the Blue Knights when we participated in the Sugar Bowl Parade in 1971 when the Air Force Academy was playing against Tennessee. What I recall about going to New Orleans on that trip was that we had arrived quite early before the parade started. They foolishly allowed us to wander off to visit Bourbon Street with instructions to be back before the parade started. And let's just say that there were more than a few Blue Knights who staggered through the Sugar Bowl parade rather than marched it!

Herald soprano. Thanks to the standing pass, I worked as waiter/bartender/bouncer in the Dixieland Lounge in Pascagoula Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights when they had live music. My roommate, Carl Bender, played lead guitar in the band there. Smokey from the Triangle played piano. Rhythm guitar and drummer were Pascagoula locals.

My favorite cadences were Split 9 and Spastic Spider.

One of my fellow drummers was Brian Butts. I lost contact with him after transferring to Barksdale AFB.

hello I was going to intercept operations school at the time I played with the blue Devils, thanks for the footage in 1968 I am in there somewhere as I recall I had a blue and white rope and a single picture of me is hanging somewhere I was also a member of the tri-state champion Cambria cadets from Ebensburg PA .Lost everything when my father died in 72. I have no pictures of me in the military whatsoever all I have left is my P 38 and good memories of the drum and bugle corps. Thank you you may repost.

What You Want For Christmas

To be with my wife of 45 years, who died from Alzheimer's 9:25AM July 15, 2013
When we heard that a pizza place refused to serve a black airman, we marched down there and told them we would make his place off limits to all airmen if he did it again. The black airman was Gerald Love. I got to know him and when we both got stationed at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, WA I asked him if he would like to be roommates. He agreed and we became best friends. I met a pretty nursing student at the base dance on January 6th, 1968. We became engaged on August 24th and married on December 14th. Gerald was my best man. He now lives in Texas with a large family including many adopted children that no one else wanted. If only that pizza owner could have seen his heart and not just the color of his skin.

Great Memories from the Blue Knights. Marching in the 1989 Mardi Gras parade is still one of my best memories from my time in the Air Force.
