Ron Cassell's '59 Corvette- Blue Knights 1961 was a fabulous experience. Several of us also played in the Keesler Kommanders dance band; regulars at the Biloxi USO, Arnold Hall and the Officer's club. When I joined the Drum Major was a sharp troop named Johnson, followed by Max Shultz and then Ian Glenday. Corps sweetheart was Dominica Termini. One of our OIC's was Lt. Richard Byerly; we used to swap cars when he needed one with an airman's sticker (dating an enlisted WAF). I got to drive his new Austin Healy and get salutes at the gate.

to march with the d & b again in the new orleans mardi gras parade- Lt Jerry was our OIC , he was from Carmel , Il. , i forgot his last name he married the corps sweetheart, Valerie, Borelli was the drum major, the corps marched in a parade in Alabama, i came back with a ton of manure on the bass drum, i had a few blobs on me too, hahaha, it was fun anyway. left USAF in july 1968 , came back into USAF Reserves in Jan '86 and retired in june 2003. did 2 tours in SEA in '67 n '68. in Reserves did support of desert storm , eternal freedom and afghanistan. sure miss the gang. well God bless you all and yours, and God bless the U.S. of A. email: [email protected]

Sorry Tom Anderson, I am a bit older than you (but we may have overlapped as I thought Lt. Williams was a captain. Got to the triangle area of Keesler in December 1964 and immediately left for the main base side of the runway and joined the Drum & Bugle corp (the air conditioned barracks were the real draw). Went through basic electronics school, then radar school, then instructor school and then taught basic electronics ('65-'66). Since I taught in the six am to noon shift, I spent my off time working at the base movie theater and helped out at the base parachute shop (I was also a skydiving instructor at the Ocean Springs airport). I played 6 string and banjo and when I met Bill Orr (12 string guitar) and Gary Hertz (standup bass) we formed a folk trio ("Empty Cup Trinity" and later the "Blue Mountain Lake Ramblers"
and played the Officer's Club at Keesler, Trader John's out on Highway 90 towards Gulfport (washed away in Camille, but actually where Jimmy Buffett got his start a year or two after we played there) and most fun of all, Friday and Saturday nights at Cosimos Bar in New Orleans (still there today on the corner of Burgundy and Gov. Nichols streets). I really enjoyed the teaching of basic electronics in Allee Hall and was pleased at how well my classes did on the standardized electronics tests at the end of the classes. I was disappointed when transferred out in late '66 (to the 1370th photomapping wing at Turner AFB (in Albany, Georgia) and then Forbes AFB (Topeka, Kansas). Would love to hear from those in Biloxi at the same time.

Another year on this planet- I attended Microwave - Radio Relay Equipment Repairman school and I went to New Orleans with Dan every chance we had. Our drill team was the U.S. Air Force honor guard when John F. Kennedy visited New Orleans in 1962. The white glove barracks inspections were always an experience. Sgt. Gombos was in charge of the drill team and d&b corps at that time. Lots of good memories performing in surrounding towns and on base for numerous occasions.

I think that Sgt. Parmater was our first shirt....can't remember everyone's name but does it really matter as we all had a riot !! I went on to the Plillipines and Nevada Test Site. I can remember the 32 hour inspection and boot burning.....there was some hot sauce involved somewhere in there as well
The Mardi Gras was cool to march in....have some pics of that somewhere.

My misspent youth- Was in the Corps May-November 1973. Spent a lot of time at Cousin Hugo's bar. Those 7 months were some of the best during my AF tour. Had a great time with T.C., Mark Klenke, Jim Criswell, and a few others whose names I don't remember. I do remember the "RED-EYE!"

drone- Great memories!!! I was the last barracks chief in the WWII units. Literally moved into the newer dorms two days before I left. No way I was going to move all my stuff in there just to pack it up a day later so I stayed in the old barracks solo for one night. That was kind of weird but fitting.

To be 18 years old with the knowledge and life experience I have now at 45.-
I don't remember a whole lot from that time. I remember the first week or so I was there we had to march in the Endymion
Parade. Cold and rainy. They had told us to just go with the flow because of the crowds and just take whatever they handed you so, we got handed lots of booze. I went on to Germany and joined the Honor Guard there.

Bariton Horn- I was student commander (Red Rope) during my training as a Ground Radio Repairman. I was in the Air National Guard. I later went active duty as an officer and retired in 2004 as a Lt Col weatherman.
