Thanks for setting this up Rich!! What a great time at Keesler... enjoyed the Mardi Gras parades although one was quite tasking, 11 miles and it was freaking freezing! Glad to see some of my old friends from the Corp posted on this and the FB site.

To be "drun major"
Got to Keesler 30 days after Camile and was in PATS for ten weeks. Was a 30131 airborne radar nav student for 52 weeks then went on to CCKAB Taiwan. Retired after 20 in 89. Who marches to school unless it's while playing music! Played all the bass horns.

I did enjoy playing retreat every Wed. the parades were not bad either. I was with the Blue Knights July 2003 - Dec 2003. I remember walking out from my room one morning around 0400 and one of the new guys (fresh off the bus) called the area to standby. it was just me him and the guys on night AFI I was cutting my eyes looking for the blue rope, and finally asked him who he was calling stand by for and his reply "you sir" me and my big 2 stripes. =) good times.

What You Want For Christmas

another year of being able to walk around
I was one of those six week people. I only remember getting on the bus, but not being able to join because of being new. I remember being called to the TechSgt's office for some kind of reprimand or other & having high heel patent leather shoes on. He asked why I was wearing those & I told him it was after duty hours. He looked to a female Sgt & she nodded her head lol. I wish I could remember names - that was a lifetime ago...I do remember that TechSgt wore mirror sunglasses lol

What You Want For Christmas

for my family to have everything they want
I remember being a scared kid getting off the bus from that long drive from San Antonio. Someone was there to greet us and ask "does anyone play drums or a horn"? The rest is history. This was late June. I loved being in the D&B. I also worked weekends at a loca radio station. We were in the 2 story barracks across from the exchange. Best times of my life. I remember being promoted to drum sgt and getting that special private room at the top of the stairs in dorm 1. The bugle sgt had the private room in 2 and the drum magor had the room in 3. We had a great corp and if you could only go back and do it gain.

Another year.
Was a member of the Drum & Bugle Corp at Kessler AFB in Biloxi after basic at San Antonio in 1970. Got to march in the Sugar Bowl Parade 1971. Was a ditty bopper student and shipped out to San Vito, Italy in February 1971. Loved my time in the Corp. Loved our many trips to New Orleans on the weekends, those I can remember anyway. ;-)
